I don't want to climb Everest

With a 'failure rate' like this. . .

Since 1953, a total of 1,373 people have climbed Everest from the Nepali and the Chinese sides. During that half century, 178 people have died on the mountain - a mortality rate of 13 percent.

. . . I'd rather stay home and read Jon Krakauer books.

Krakauer's Into Thin Air was awesome--easily one of the best I'd read in a while. I'm in total agreement with you on it being much preferable to actually doing the climb.

Into the Wild was also very impressive. But Into Thin Air was truly staggering. Last night at the bookstore, I saw Under the Banner of Heaven (or whatever it's called) and seriously considered picking up a copy....
